Heather comes to Gutterman Griffiths with impressive legal experience despite only having joined the bar in 2010. Heather clerked under the Honorable James C. Klein of Boulder in Colorado’s Twentieth Judicial District. Working with Judge Klein offered Heather the opportunity to participate directly in the judicial decision-making process to gain firsthand insight into how family law judges look at the issues, process and evidence in family law cases.
Prior to that - even before law school - Heather had a long history of interest and participation in the field of family law. During her undergraduate work in sociology at the University of Virginia, Heather concentrated on divorce and family issues and wrote her thesis on divorce and the changing roles of parents within families. During law school, she worked for a family law firm in Washington D.C., where she worked cases involving complex financial and child custody issues.
Heather also has experience working with complex financial investigations and litigation. Before law school, Heather worked as a legal assistant in the Antitrust Department of the prestigious law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In that capacity, she worked on large-scale mergers being investigated by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the European Commission. During law school, she worked for the international trade law firm of Neville Peterson and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, both located in Washington, D.C.
Heather is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, running, triathlons, and traveling.
